Research Interest:
- Policy-Based Network Management
- Network Security
- Wireless Communication Networks
- Distributed Systems
On-going Projects:
- (2008-)ATHENA (security task)
Main contribution is on securing an adaptive network management system (DRAMA framework) to comply with information operations conditions (INFOCON). Efforts include:- Legacy socket replacement
- Platform integration with OpenNMS
- Network access control management
- Integration with Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
- (2008-)Integrated Network Monitoring System (INMS)
INMS is an on-going research collaboration for detecting malicious end user behaviors in an Internet Service Provider (ISP) network.
Past Projects:
- 2008-2009 Zero Outage Dynamic Intrinsically Assurable Communities (ZODIAC)
ZODIAC develops a "clean-slate" approach to mobile ad hoc networking with a particular emphasis on security based on a novel security and communications building block, the Dynamic Community of Interest (DCoI). Acting as technical lead for the Policy Subsystem which provides system flexibility and ensures operation security.
This was a response to DARPA IAMANET program. - 2006-2009 IEEE 802.21 MIH
Media Independent Handover (MIH) defines a set of tools for mobility management component on a multiple network interface device to perform the network selection decisions. Acting as assistant editor for the Working Group and secretary for the Security Study Group. - 2006-2009 Internet Technologies Supporting Universal Mobile Operations (ITSUMO)
Toshiba and Telcordia joint research project on interoperability between different network access on availibility, connectivity, and security for mobile devices. Acting as system architecture design and technical lead.
Participated in the following research prototypes:- SIP with mobility management
- IEEE 802.21 Information Server
- 2007-2008 IP Assure
Ensuring the Security, Regulatory Compliance and High Availability of IP Networks. Act as system architecture designer and technical consultant. - 2005-2006 Vulnerability and Compliance Assessement System (VCAS)
Analyze enterprise network for vulnerability and business policy compliance via device configuration. This system not only assess the state of the art best practices for each Internet Technology, but also analyze accross technology. Acting as system engineer and integrator. - 2003-2005 Policies using Event Condition Action Notation (PECAN)
- 2001 Wireless Call Agent (WCA)
- 2001 Content Delivery Information Management (CDIM)
Education
- B.S. and M.S. degree in Computer Science and Information Engineering from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan
